On September 23, we celebrated Helen's first birthday. We had a small party for her, with only Sarah and I, Sarah's friend Nicole, and Nicole's daughter and Helen's only friend, Kendall. Helen received a couple of presents, most of which she had already seen. Of course, she was really only interested in ripping off the wrapping paper, so she didn't mind. And we gave her a large piece of birthday cake, which as you can see above, she was not shy about eating. It seems kind of strange that we've only known her for a year, but it also seems like we've known her forever. And although we were sad that more family couldn't attend the festivities, I think that she had a good time.
